Therapy for High-Achieving Professionals and Graduate Students

The Weight of being exceptional & the go-getter

High-achieving professionals often carry stress that no one else sees. You’re used to solving problems, staying composed under pressure, and pushing through when things get hard.

But constant responsibility and self-criticism can quietly take a toll which leaves you anxious, exhausted, or disconnected from what once drove you.

You were most likely the straight A, honor-roll student, who had perfect attendance and participated in all the extra-curricular activities to ensure you were seen as the best. If not, you might’ve been someone your parents were very critical of and you achieved to spite them for ever doubting you and now those critical messages are coming from yourself.

No matter how many accolades, it’s never satisfying enough. Achieving feels like it’s just another checkbox and we move on to the next task without slowing down to acknowledge what went into arriving there, because that’s who you are and what you are expected to do, right?

Who I Work With

I specialize in therapy for executives, Ph.D’s, consultants, healthcare providers, attorneys, leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, creatives, and professionals in business and technology who feel trapped in cycles of overwork, burnout, and perfectionism.

You may want relief from chronic stress, but also a deeper understanding of what fuels it. You actually want to live with more intentionality, but don’t know how to let go without feeling like you are failing or slacking off. On top of that, you’re likely managing others and having to deal with their stuff.

I also work with graduate students in their master’s program, Ph.D., postdocs, and medical students who face constant performance pressure, imposter syndrome, difficulties pleasing their advisor and the fear of falling behind.

Many feel isolated, drained, or unsure how to sustain success without losing themselves.

how I can help

I get it… I’m no stranger to this mindset. And I have extensive experience working with those who are success-driven, ambitious, perfect on paper, but so burnt out and disconnected from your personal life.

While I believe deeply in the value of reflection, validation, and emotional insight, I also know that awareness alone isn’t enough.

My style is direct, active, and goal-oriented. We’ll talk about what’s happening but we’ll also focus on what to do about it.

My clients appreciate that therapy with me feels productive (ironic, isn’t it?). They leave sessions with clarity, practical tools, and a sense of forward movement.

I’m a good fit for people who want to understand themselves and also is motivated to take tangible steps toward change.

What Therapy Helps You Do

High-achievers often rely on logic and control to manage stress. These traits make you successful but they can also keep you stuck. You analyze instead of feel, push instead of pause, and question your worth when you’re not producing.

In our work, you learn to:

  • Recognize the patterns that drive overwork and perfectionism.

  • Identify the emotions and unmet needs buried under achievement.

  • Develop emotional regulation tools that don’t rely on productivity.

  • Build boundaries that protect your time, energy, and relationships.

  • Explore emotional cost of being successful.

Therapy helps you create space for rest, clarity, and self-trust while continuing to succeed, just better.

my approach with high-achievers

My approach integrates evidence-based methods such as CBT, ACT, EMDR, psychodynamic, and interpersonal process therapy, tailored for analytical, high-functioning individuals who value both understanding and action.

As a licensed psychologist, I embrace the scientist-practitioner model of my training utilizing my background in research and critical thinking while blending the warmth of being human.

My clients often notice tangible shifts early on: improved focus, better boundaries, calmer relationships, and less mental clutter. We track progress together so you can see the changes you’re building week to week.
