Life doesn’t always go the way we expect. Some experiences help us grow, while others leave us hurting, uncertain, or simply trying to make sense of what happened.
Inspired by the Japanese art of kintsugi, this workshop is about learning to see repair differently. We don’t have to find a silver lining in everything or convince ourselves that we’re “better because of it.”
Instead, we’ll focus on:
Honoring what we’ve been through
Accepting where we are even when we don’t understand completely
Recognizing that healing and repair are possible
Remembering that we’re still whole and valuable, cracks and all
Between work, responsibilities, and never-ending to-do lists, it’s easy to put yourself last.
This workshop is a chance to slow down, reflect, and make a little space for yourself.
Join me in this creative wellness experience in DFW,
because you’re worth the investment.
During this workshop, you'll
explore how challenges can shape growth without defining your identity
reflect on your own story through guided, meaningful discussion
connect with others in a supportive, low-pressure space
create a beautiful keepsake to take home and display as a reminder
practical tools you’ll leave with
a grounding technique to calm your body during stressful moments
a practice for accepting what you can't change, without pretending it's okay or staying stuck fighting it
a self-compassion practice for responding to yourself with greater kindness
a framework for understanding growth after adversity and putting words to your own experience
Meet Your Facilitator
Hi there! I'm Dr. Vy Tran, a licensed psychologist and the founder of Mind & Maker, a creative wellness workshop series that combines psychology, arts & crafts, and hands-on curated experiences.
One of the (many) favorite parts of my job is teaching. I love taking psychological concepts that can sometimes feel abstract and turning them into experiences that are practical, engaging, and hopefully fun.
I've also always enjoyed being creative. For me, art fills the gaps where words fall short. It helps me slow down, get out of my head, and be more present.
Over the years, I've realized those same experiences can also create space for reflection, growth, and connection, which is what inspired this specialized arts and craft workshop series.
I chose Kintsugi because I think it captures something really important about being human. We all go through difficult experiences, and while those experiences can leave their mark, they don't make us any less valuable. If anything, they become part of our story.
Through this, I hope you enjoy making something with your hands, be in community with others, and leave feeling just a bit more compassionate toward the parts of your life that aren't totally perfect.
And of course, you'll have a unique piece to take home as a reminder of how special you really are.
Thanks for being here and taking a leap of faith in learning more about yourself :)
I'm really excited to create with you!
With love,
♡ Vy

This workshop is for anyone who wants to better understand themselves, reflect on life’s challenges, and spend an afternoon creating something meaningful.
Whether you’re navigating change, seeking personal growth, or simply looking for unique things to do in Fort Worth, you’re welcome here. You don’t need to consider yourself “artistic” or have any previous experience. The focus is on the process, not creating a perfect piece of art.
If you’re looking for a memorable Dallas date idea, a creative mindfulness experience in DFW, or meaningful things to do in Fort Worth, this wellness workshop offers something different. It brings together art, reflection, and psychology in a welcoming space where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and build resilience.
-
Absolutely not! Not unless you want to. Sharing is always optional, and you're welcome to participate at whatever comfort level feels right for you, whether that's speaking openly or simply reflecting quietly.
Showing up is enough.
What I found most beneficial with these types of experience is being surrounded by others who are seeking out ways to connect with people, even if it means just sharing space in these community-focused mindful art events.
-
Not at all! This workshop is designed for all skill levels, including complete beginners. The focus is on the experience and reflection, not artistic perfection.
The opposite of seeking perfection, actually!
-
This workshop is a little of both, but it’s neither therapy nor a traditional art class.
Unlike group therapy, there is no expectation to share personal experiences, process trauma, or participate openly. The workshop uses psychology-informed activities to encourage reflection in a calm group setting.
Unlike a traditional art class, the focus isn’t on technique or creating a perfect finished piece. You’ll learn about the art of kintsugi while using the creative process to explore ideas about growth, imperfection, and resilience.
Come as you are, create something meaningful, and leave with a new perspective!
If you’re seeking more group therapy experiences, let me know and I will provide you resources.
-
Yes, you'll take your finished piece home with you at the end of the workshop. We use a fast-drying process, so there's no wait.
-
Guests aged 14 and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
To maintain an adult-friendly environment and due to the nature of the workshop, we cannot accommodate infants or toddlers.
-
Every guest in attendance will need to book a reservation.
-
Comfortable clothing you don't mind getting a little dirty is best. I recommend bringing a light layer too, in case the room runs cool.
All materials are provided including writing materials, but feel free to bring your own pen or journal if you'd like.
-
Yes, plenty of free parking is available on-site at the NRH Centre.
